Get the Most of Job Interviews

Many people have failed terribly during interviews even with the upgraded CV that they present. This is attributed to the fact that they either were not properly prepared or were not able to provide answers to simple yet tricky questions as asked by the panel. Because of this, here are simple yet essential steps, towards getting the most of job interviews.

1. First and foremost, it is important to get any reliable knowledge about the firm which has invited you for an interview. These background knowledge should include:
  • When it was formed
  • Its competitive firms
  • Names of its management staffs
  • Types of services it offers
  • Its customers
Sometimes, interviewers will ask you simple questions about the firm. Always be ready to provide positive answers about the said firms. You never know, maybe the firm is just looking for your weaker points.

2. Always confirm the time, place and duration of interview prior to the date of the interview. Record such either in your dairy, or in your planning document, lest you forget. As always, ensure that the name of that the name of place is spelled out correctly, and you are equipped with the knowledge about its physical location. It is always wise to ask for direction in case you are not familiar with that location.

3. On the day of the interview, it is wise to be a little punctual. If your appointment is at 10.00 am, it won't do you any harm to arrive some 30 minutes prior to this period. It gives you the opportunity to prepare yourself, adjust to the environment, and while at the same time creates an impressive role to your interviewers. Your potential employers will also note your punctuality. You never know, maybe that was the only thing they were looking for when they called for that interview.

4. Always equip yourself with the normal courtesy. There are a good number of individuals seeking for job opportunities. The firm will never waste any time dismissing you and call on for the next person if you do not consider the following.
  • Dressing codes
  • Interview courtesy
  • General presentation
