So today you got a call from the school administrative authority, to come for an Interview for the post of a teacher. How do you react? Are you nervous and excited, not sure what to do? To help you face your job interview with confidence we have listed down couple of sample teacher interview questions that can help you face your teacher's interview with full poise.
Question 1: Teacher Interview - Tell me about yourself?
Answer 1: At almost all the teacher job interviews this would be the first question that the interviewer might ask. The answer to this questions should be short and to the point, not consuming too much of the interviewer's time. In just 2 to 3 lines give a brief introduction about your education qualifications and what training or certificate you possess which could help you qualify as a teacher. Other then this, you can talk about you positive experiences as a teacher.
Question 2: Why do you want to become a teacher?
Answer 2: This is yet another one of the most common teacher interview question that your interviewer might ask. Be sure to answer this question with full confidence and honesty. You can answer this question by talking about your own personal experiences. You can say one of your teachers in school inspired you to choose teaching as your career option. You can even include that teaching is your passion and you would feel honored if you can shape the students education and career graph in the right direction.
Question 3: What is your teaching philosophy?
Answer 3: Any interviewer would be interested to know your teaching philosophy and this is the reason why they come up with this question. Your answer would give them an idea as to what your teaching experiences in a real class room have been like. So make sure that you do your homework before attempting this question. Sometimes the interviewer misses out this question and instead they might ask if you want to tell something more about yourself. Take initiative and inform them about your teaching philosophy and how you take up challenges and over come obstacles as a teacher keeping your principals in mind. If possible provide some real examples. Honest answer to this question is sure to impress your interviewer.
Question 4: How do you handle classroom discipline?
Answer 4: This question needs some sincere thought and some real life experience. The answer to this question would be different, depending on years of exp, grade you are applying for...etc. To answer this question it is absolutely important to quote some real experiences like how you handle the class discipline by giving red stars or green stars. Whatever your strategy is, make sure that you back it with a positive motive. Also explain why you love following the strategy you do and how it makes the students feel more accountable and responsible. I would again replicate what I said earlier, be honest with your answers, because experienced people can immediately make out fake replies and those definitely mark a negative impression.
Question 5: What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Answer 5: For a teacher job some of the key strengths to quote are patience, hard work, sincerity and interpersonal skills. As for weakness you can talk about 1 or 2 of your weaknesses but remember to add a positive tone to it. For example you can say my biggest weakness is perfection and at times I go way to long to make the kids do everything perfectly right, which even makes me lose my temper at times, but I am trying to overcome my weakness.
