Teacher Interview Tips - Fours Ways to Be Prepared For Your Interview

If you are looking for a teaching position, it's hard enough getting the interview. But the interview itself will be no less difficult. You need to stand out among the other candidates. These teacher interview tips will help.
  • Be ready for the questions with answers you have rehearsed. The last thing you want to do in response to a question is to look up at the ceiling, tap your chin, and say, "Hmmmm... Let me think about that." That will not inspire much confidence in the interviewer. Study common teacher interview questions and be ready with an answer.
  • Don't drink too much coffee. Having too much caffeine can cause you to ramble on too much in response to a question. Don't let yourself start to repeat your points because you don't know when to stop.
  • Research the school and be prepared to talk about how your knowledge and experience could help. Don't be too forceful with your ideas and suggestions. But knowing what areas the school is looking to improve can provide a good opportunity for you to show off your strong points.
  • Wear a nice suit and don't be late. If you're not sure how long it will take you to get to the interview, make the drive before the interview day. If the interview is at the school it will also give you a chance to do a quick inspection of the campus.
Use common sense when preparing for the interview. There's nothing wrong with being a little nervous, but being prepared will boost your confidence.
