Teacher Interview Tips - 3 Questions You Should Ask at the End of the Teaching Job Interview

The teaching job interview is almost over.   You came prepared and answered every question they threw at you with confidence, you backed up your answers with real-world examples, and the probability that you will get the job is high.  Then, just when you think it's over and you're ready to shake hands and say goodbye, they ask that one final question, "Do you have any questions for us?".

The teacher interview is not over at this point.   In fact, the questions you ask here can determine if you are offered a job or not.   You should ask questions that show you have done some research and care about the answers you are looking for.  Before asking any question, you should first let the interviewer know why you are asking the question with a brief statement.   By doing so, you show that you actually have a reason for asking the question and you care about the answer you seek.

Here are three questions you might ask the interviewer at the end of the teaching job interview:

1.  I'm exciting to meet and start working with my new team members.   Can you tell me a little about the teachers I will be working with?

2.  I believe effective lessons begin with solid and engaging lesson plans.  Is time for lesson planning provided during the school day?

3.  In additional to my strong mathematics background, I also have experience in a number of different technologies.  What kind of technology resources are available to teachers for use in the classroom?

By asking the right questions, you can demonstrate that you are knowledgeable, prepared, and qualified for the job.   You should come up with your own questions, using them to highlight any of your strengths that may have been overlooked in the teacher interview.
